Make a Difference in the World! 

You are cordially invited to join the all-volunteer harvest to help pick an estimated 2 million pounds of pears this year. Over 100,000 pounds of fresh pears will be distributed to local food pantries in Jackson County and the other approximately 1.9 million pounds will be canned for humanitarian needs around the world.

Pear Harvest Details:

Dates: Harvest runs from August 9th to August 24th, 2024
Time: Just show up! Walk-in ground picking starts at 6:30 am and runs to noon. Harvesting resumes again from 5:30 pm and goes to 8:30 pm.

What to Expect

  • A Fun and Fulfilling Experience: Join friends, family, and neighbors in the orchard, enjoying the outdoor harvesting experience and community camaraderie.

  • Refreshing Cold Water: We will provide water to keep you hydrated throughout the day.

  • 11 and Older are Welcome: Simply drive out to the orchard and sign in. Hosts are available Monday—Friday, 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at the “Community & Business Partners” tent. They will provide guided instructions for any first-time harvesters.

How You Can Help

  • Walk-up or Sign Up: Simply come to the orchard during operating hours to pick pears from the ground or, for the more adventurous, register for platform picking by going to medfordpearorchard.ord then click on “Sign up to Volunteer.” Platform picking is for ages 16 and older and requires pre-registration. 

  • Bring: Closed-toed shoes, long sleeve shirts, sun protection, and a willingness to lend a hand.
